Halloween 2025

Well, we’re a week into this, and I’m having a great time. I have managed to write a review every day so far. This is the most writing I’ve done in years.

I have the next week of movies ready to go. I decided to focus on New movies with one exception. The one exception was decided before I made the choice to have a theme week.

The list of moves for the next seven days is as follows

  1. Dead Ringers
  2. The Conjuring: Last Rites
  3. Good Boy
  4. Bring Her Back
  5. 28 Years Later
  6. The Long Walk
  7. The Monkey

I have a complicated history with David Cronenberg. His movie the Brood is one of the few movies that made me close my eyes. His remake of The Fly is one of the great remakes of all time. We’ll see how this Jeremy Irons film fares

I loved the first two Conjuring movies. I’m glad the franchise is being closed off. Just let it end. It’s time. I’m hoping it is better than the last Conjuring movie.

Good Boy is a haunted house story told from the perspective of the family dog. I hope the movie is as brilliant as its premise.

Bring Her Back is yet another Australian horror film, so we know it’s going to be messed up. It was made by the duo that created Talk to Me, a horror movie from a couple of years ago that was deeply unsettling. We’ll see how this holds up.

28 Years Later is the long awaited follow up to the genre redefining 28 Days Later directed by Danny Boyle all those years ago. Not being the biggest zombie fan, I’m curious how this is going to play.

The Long Walk got a lot of press and attention when it was released not too long ago. I’m hoping it’s about more than just some people walking. It seems like too thin a premise to carry a movie that is this long.

Finally, The Monkey got a lot of attention earlier this year. It’s based on a Stephen King story. It has a great cast. It has a creepy prop/marketing opportunity in the form of the titular monkey. I hope it lives up to the hype.

If you’re following along at home, I hope you’ll enjoy these movies too. Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see on the list.
